Washers and Dryers: Reasons to Use Your Local Laundromat

0

Not many people know it, but there are several distinct advantages to using a laundromat. Once we’re out of college, the military or through with the single life, many of us get a washer and dryer of our own. We swear off ever going to the laundromat again, unless our machines break down.

Still, there are very distinct advantages to using a laundromat. Besides the standard “It’s a great place to meet people,” cliché, I’ll list some of the more practical advantages.

1. VACATION

When on vacation, it can be difficult to find a break in the action at the machines on the hotel or resort property. There is most likely a laundromat nearby with plenty of machines.

No one wants to spend there time waiting and watching one or two machines to get there turn at washing. Time is too valuable on vacation. Laundromats provide plenty of machines, so there is seldom any waiting.

2. TIME SAVER

Laundromats have plenty of machines that probably have a larger capacity than the ones at home. You can go in and use as many machines as you need and be done in a couple of hours.

This time saver is one that is good to use in the summer time when the kids are at home and dirtying up more clothes, or right after returning from vacation.

3. COMFORT SAVER

Chance are, your washing machine and dryer leak massive amounts of heat into your house when you do laundry. Your A/C unit can only remove so much heat on a scorching day. The laundromat is a better to place to leave all that heat on a hot day.

4. HOLIDAYS

The holidays are busy and there is seldom time to get everything done. The laundromat will save loads of time from trying to do laundry at home. It’s also a great way to get out of doing your college student’s laundry when they bring it home dirty for the holidays. Just hand them a twenty, some soap and softener, and send them out.

5. ON STAFF EXPERTS

There are times when you might encounter a tough stain and or just have some questions about laundry in general. Most laundromats have someone on duty. These good people usually know a thing or two about laundry and can help you with some advice on tough stains or the best laundry products to use.

6. LARGE ITEMS

Large items, such as pillows, comforters, sheets and blankets are extremely time consuming at home. The machines at home are considerably smaller. It takes more loads to do them. The laundromat machines are much larger and cut the time it takes to do these items.

According to Laundry Equipment Services, “The larger machines can handle more of these items at one time. They also do a much better job at cleaning them. When it’s time for spring cleaning and the drapes come down, the laundromat is by far the better choice for these items.”

7. LAUNDRAMAT SERVICES

Many laundromats have drop off service. Simply drop your laundry off on the way to work, and pick it up afterward. This is a clever way for “Super Moms” who work AND get clobbered with most of the housework to save oodles of time. They usually charge by the pound. When you pick your laundry up, it’s professionally and beautifully clean and folded.

8. TIME AWAY

There can always be selfish reasons to do anything if you just look hard enough. If you just need to get away from the yelling, running and general madness of the house, the laundromat is there for you. Almost all of them have television sets and soda machines. You may find it surprisingly refreshing to throw the clothes in a couple of machines, grab a soda, a chair, and watch some tube. If you’re really resourceful, you can make this a “Margarita” moment!
