A Backup Camera For Safety: Avoiding Collisions

In today’s world, having a backup camera is essential for safety. You definitely need a backup camera nowadays with more cars on the streets. Unfortunately, most of these brand name companies do not have these installed in their vehicles yet. But you’re thinking to yourself, “shouldn’t it be preinstalled as part of a mandatory check?” If I was the auto manufacturer, I would definitely without the slightest hesitation, say “YES”! There are many reasons to this. First, why would you run the risk of running over kids playing in the driveway or street when you back up? There’s been so so many accidents and fatalities involving these cases where the driver does not see the kids playing in the driveway (especially for SUV’s, minivans, trucks, RV’s,etc). As a result, the kids end up being seriously wounded or killed instantly. Why take that chance especially if those kids are your own? The parent(s) could be in a rush to go somewhere or just plainly did not see the kids playing in the rear.

Also, you heard the news that all these infants/toddlers have been killed in the rear because of simple negligence/absenteeism on the part of the parents? Does the Georgia incident ring a bell? Hello!! We need a wake-up call from all these tragic deaths. There’s been over 700 deaths since 1990 related to heat stroke. That is just an alarming statistic!! We cannot let this happen to any of these kids anymore(let alone any of our kids) and that’s why if you go to kidsandcars.org, you can sign a petition to have government intervene and look into technological innovation in cars and car seats. There’s also been over 1100 deaths since 1990, with the majority being age 5 or less or over 70.

We talked with Camera-source.com who added, “Another reason would be for parallel parking. A lot of times when we parallel park, we have to turn our heads 180 degrees back just to make sure that we don’t collide with the car behind us. Sometimes we misjudge the distance and as a result, boom! We are all human beings and sometimes we get distracted once in a while or frustrated and try to hastily park”. Now you don’t want that to happen to your car, do you? Imagine if all cars are equipped with rear view cameras, there would be less accidents and many lives saved!

Additionally, rear view cameras make driving safer, especially when you switch lanes on the highway. The conventional rearview mirror offers limited range so therefore, less reliant. The more sophisticated rear view cameras on the dashboard covers all the blind spots to make switching lanes so much easier and sports a more wide-angle view. The camera is also designated to zoom downwards to see at a lower angle. This will definitely alleviate a lot of those backover accidents especially involving little kids and pedestrians. Trucks,RV’s,sport utility vehicles and buses definitely have a need for this because they’re elevated so high up that they would not see anything below the rear mirror when they back up. I remember there was a story involving a contractor backing up from a driveway and did not realize that there was a little girl playing behind the truck. She never stood a chance and was killed instantly. This breaks my heart to hear that!! Now if there was a rear view mirror back then, almost every single life of these infants/toddlers would have been saved. Then there was another story which involved an innocent boy waking up a tad too early and a dad’s mishap which resulted in the death of the toddler. Having a rear view camera definitely can save lives and avoid many collision accidents!
