4 Innovative Home Automation Ideas You Need To Know About

0

Everyone is so busy these days. There’s a lot to be done between work, family, and time for yourself. Many people are wasting time away sitting on social media, or binging shows on Netflix. Others have schedules they follow and have optimized their time. The biggest trick to getting more time in the day: automate as many tasks as you can. With the latest technology, people are actually automating their homes. Check out these four innovative home automation ideas that are coming out soon.

1. Custom Features Based On User

When you go into Bill Gates’ house, you’ll receive a small wearable pin. That pin has information programmed into it based on your preferences. For example, let’s say you want the temperature to be 78 degrees in whatever room you’re in. That information is programmed into the pin and any time you enter a room, it will be adjusted. The same thing can be done for lights and artwork on the walls.

This could be improved by having it based on something such as your smartphone instead of a pin that you have to wear. One interesting problem could be that if you have two people in the same room with different parameters, it would have to somehow adjust in a way that would make both people happy. That’s often not possible.

We could also set up custom features that would only provide things for that particular user that they like. For example, when a user goes to a smart-fridge, the drinks that they prefer could be moved to the front whereas drinks that they don’t prefer would be moved to the back.

2. Parameters Based On Mood

“Artificial intelligence and facial recognition is getting so advanced that it’s reasonable to believe that in the next couple of years, we will have artificial intelligence that can read your face and know how you’re feeling,” said Audio Video Experience.

Taking that and combining it with outside factors such as the weather, what’s in the news, and what we’ve recently posted on social media ourselves, we could have home automation that changes music, lighting, and temperature based on our current mood. The goal being to help improve our mood rather than make it worse.

Many people may feel that when they’re angry they want to listen to a certain type of music, but psychologically it may be better for another type of music to be heard at that time to calm them down.

There are a lot of different things that would apply to these parameters other than music, temperature, and weather. If someone is particularly depressed, you could have it set so that it won’t allow them access to excessive amounts of alcohol which is known to be a depressant and would just make them feel worse.

3. Parameters To Save Money

According to Forbes, one of the driving factors behind home automation is the public desire to save energy.

In some circumstances, this already exists, but it would be great to have home automation that is built around saving money. For example, you could have your temperature change whenever you leave the house and lights automatically turn off.

Another thing that could be automated is to have the temperature in your shower notify you when it reaches the temperature that you prefer. If you could get a notification to tell you exactly when it’s hot enough, you wouldn’t waste any water by hopping in immediately after it becomes the temperature that you desire.

We could also do the same thing with cooking and not leaving stoves and ovens on longer than necessary to cook the particular food that we need.

This is not only good for our utility bills, but it would also be good for the environment as a whole because we would be using much less energy.

4. Parameters For Security

Everyone wants to stay in a safe house, so it would be innovative to have automated security parameters that could change based on certain factors.

You could have a pet door that stays locked unless the pet, who is wearing a collar with a special chip in it, comes near the door. Then it unlocks, lets them through, and then re-locks behind them. This would prevent smart criminals from using pet doors to their advantage with the various tools that they use to break into houses.
