4 Inspiring Ideas for Your Tree Stump after Tree Removal

0

Tree stumps make interesting and ideal subjects for eye-catching artwork, practical uses as a centerpiece to beautify your garden or yard with colorful decorations, or left in their natural state if they are already eye-appealing. What are you supposed to do with the small remaining unsightly portion of a tree that has been cut down, but the roots are still in the ground so the stump is still firmly stable?

“Add fun and contemporary flair to modern decor, often with ingenious simplicity. Handmade decorations are interesting, inspiring, and add fresh and impressive designs without spending lots of money,” said Moore’s Tree Service.

There are so many recycling possibilities depending on the size and shape of the stump

1. If the stump is large

After sanding the stump down, stain it, and finish it off with a coat of polyurethane to seal it. Then go ahead with your project.

You could possibly carve it out into the shape of a chair (maybe even with arms) where you can sit and relax to survey the surroundings in your outdoor living space. Most chairs are 18 inches high. Cut the chair out with a chain saw and finish by sanding with a heavy-duty sander.

You can also create an outdoor dining table to hold your serving pieces full of delicious food, and/or create stools to sit on. Be sure to seal them against weather, similar as you would a deck.

Hollow out the center portion, and plant vertical growing plants that will cascade down to the lawn for an interesting planter. Otherwise, fill it with colorful flowers or herbs.

If the stump is large enough, you can cut stepping stone slabs from it two inches thick and perhaps in various diameters. These are good looking as a pathway through a garden. Fill the spaces between them with pea gravel, sand or a creeping thyme plant.

2. If the stump is small

Carve out enough to make a place to put a small bunch of real or artificial flowers.

Showcase your seashell or ceramic frog or other collection or hobby.

3. Make a humorous design

Paint and decorate the stump into a bright, colorful, playful and unique mushroom or duck or large bird or any type of yard or garden art. It depends on what the shape lends itself to in order to add a whimsical touch to the landscaping.

4. Lighting fixtures

Lighting designs turn tree stumps with their natural beauty into spectacular multi-functional modern fixtures using Plexiglas tops that allow the embedded fluorescent light to shine through. The dramatic fixtures are ideal for home bars, family rooms, entryways, kitchen, living room, bedroom, or home theater decorating.
