A Wedding DJ Can Get Your Party Started

0

As you envision your wedding, you likely picture all of your guests having a splendid time. Your hope is that the ceremony will be spectacular and the food scrumptious. However, you also want to provide entertainment for your guests, and a wedding DJ is just the touch that you need to start the party.

From Start to Finish

Part of throwing a party is making the entire celebration seem cohesive. By having the same musical team present from the start of the day to the end, you’ll be able to establish a flow at your event. For example, hiring the same group to play the ceremony music as the tunes at the cocktail hour and reception adds to the cohesion of the day. Be sure to check with your house of worship. Some do not permit recorded music or outside music, so you can pick up with the DJ when you get to cocktail hour.

Announcing the Party

As Wikipedia’s article “Disc Jockey” notes, a DJ can also act as an MC. The MC is the master of ceremonies and has a few responsibilities throughout the celebration. Clapping and cheering as the newly married couple walks into the reception hall is often facilitated by the MC. He or she will also announce the bridal party members as well as the parents of the couple, grandparents of the couple and any other special family members who they want to honor. Doing so helps to increase the vibe in the room and get everyone excited to party.

Encouraging People to Dance

Once the celebration starts, the DJ and/or MC wants to get everyone out onto the dance floor. As the bride or groom, you also want to ensure that all of your guests are having a good time. We talked with Soundwave DF and Photo who explained, “Some guests are just too shy to get onto the dance floor. The DJ can help to encourage them. “The music team might play songs from all different eras to ensure that everyone has a chance to hear some favorite songs, or they may help to get people dancing.

Other Musical Services

A DJ is certainly about playing the music for the reception, but some other musically-inclined services also come as a part of the celebration. For example, the New York Times published an article entitled Jukebox Apps for the Party-Pleasing DJ discusses a new trend. Guests can have the ability to pick out the songs that they want to hear. Couples might also choose to have a live singer who croons some melodies while the rest of the guests are eating dinner. Couples are often invited to make a list of songs that they absolutely want to hear played at the reception.

All the Special Events

If you’ve been to a few weddings, you know that a lot of traditions are involved. From the tossing of the bouquet to the special father/daughter dance, someone needs to orchestrate these happenings. The DJ and MC team is generally the one in-charge of that. They can also play special video tributes and make announcements in honor of loved ones who are no longer in this world. Furthermore, the DJ and MC orchestrates the cake cutting ceremony, any games that the couple wants to incorporate and virtually all other announcements throughout the course of the day. They may work with the reception hall’s matre’d for some of these happenings.

Getting the party started involves bringing people out onto the dance floor but also involving them in the famous wedding traditions, and a wedding DJ is able to bring those elements to any celebration.
